Galvanised sheet is the default roofing across most of Africa because it is light, fast to fix and survives without maintenance if the zinc coating is adequate for the environment.
Coating mass is the specification that decides service life. A Z150 coating is adequate inland; coastal and high-humidity locations need Z275 or better, and under-specifying here is a false economy that shows up as rust within a few years.
Sheet is quoted by profile, thickness, coating mass and cut length. Because it is light but bulky, containers fill on volume rather than weight, so length mix has a real effect on freight per square metre.
