Water-based anionic bitumen emulsion at 65% residual binder for tack coats, prime coats and cold surface treatments.
Emulsion is chosen where a binder must be applied cold. Because it is water-continuous it can be sprayed without heating to asphalt temperatures, which makes it practical for maintenance crews, small contracts and remote sites without a hot binder plant.
Anionic grades suit alkaline and limestone aggregates. If your aggregate is siliceous, a cationic emulsion will usually break more reliably, and we will say so rather than ship the wrong chemistry.
Emulsion has a finite storage life and is sensitive to freezing and prolonged heat. We state the recommended storage window on the technical data sheet and advise against ordering further ahead than the site programme requires.
