Chrome Concentrate 42% Cr₂O₃

Metallurgical grade chrome concentrate at 42% Cr₂O₃ for ferrochrome production and refractory manufacture.

Chrome concentrate 42 percent Cr2O3 in jumbo bags for bulk export from South Africa
Product Overview

South Africa produces the bulk of the world's chromite, and metallurgical concentrate is the primary feed for ferrochrome smelters supplying the stainless steel industry. Availability is generally reliable; pricing tracks the ferrochrome cycle closely.

Buyers contract on Cr₂O₃ content and on the chrome-to-iron ratio, which determines smelting efficiency. Silica and alumina act as penalty elements. All settle against an agreed independent assay.

Concentrate is a fine material with a transportable moisture limit. For container shipment we confirm the flow moisture point and load within it, because a liquefying cargo is a serious vessel safety issue, not a paperwork detail.

Frequently asked

Why does the Cr:Fe ratio matter?

It governs smelting efficiency and the grade of ferrochrome achievable. Most metallurgical buyers specify a minimum of 1.5:1.

How do you manage moisture in transit?

We confirm the flow moisture point and load within the transportable moisture limit, with a certificate in the document set.
