Tomato paste is one of the highest-volume canned lines in African retail and catering, and buyers price it on brix, can size and cartons per container rather than on brand.
Brix is the concentration measure. 28–30% is the double-concentrate standard; higher brix means more tomato solids per can and a fuller flavour, and it commands a premium. Below 28% the product is a different commercial category.
Shelf life and labelling govern acceptance at import. We state remaining shelf life on arrival and confirm labelling requirements — local language, ingredient declaration, importer mark — before production rather than after the container has shipped.
