Yellow Maize, Feed Grade
Feed-grade yellow maize as the primary energy component in poultry, pig and cattle rations, supplied in bags or bulk.
Yellow maize is bought on energy: it is the cheapest bulk source of metabolisable energy in most commercial feed formulations, typically making up half or more of a poultry ration by weight.
Feed grade tolerates more defective kernels and foreign matter than milling grade, which is reflected in the price. What it cannot tolerate is mycotoxin contamination, so we test for aflatoxin and, on request, fumonisin.
Where a mill buys continuously, a supply agreement with monthly call-offs is usually more efficient than repeated spot enquiries, and we price it on that basis.

What protein level should I expect?
Typically 7.5–9.0% crude protein. Yellow maize is bought for energy rather than protein; the protein comes from meals such as soybean.
Do you supply on a monthly contract?
Yes. For continuous mill consumption we prefer to quote a supply agreement with monthly call-offs rather than repeated spot shipments.
